The Opportunity

Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia is seeking a Workshop Fitter to join our Perth based rebuilds team on a 7/7 roster, working on a major EH5000 rigid haul truck rebuild project at our Forrestdale workshop.

Reporting to the Rebuilds Coordinator, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Strip, inspect, rebuild and reassemble EH5000 rigid haul trucks to OEM standards
  • Carry out mechanical fitting work across major systems including:
    • Chassis and structural components
    • High-horsepower diesel engines
    • Final drives, brake and steering systems
    • AC drive components and electric wheel motors
    • Hydraulic systems and cooling packages
  • Conduct detailed inspections during strip-downs to identify wear, damage, and repair requirements
  • Complete rebuild tasks safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards
  • Follow Hitachi procedures, safety systems, and documentation requirements
  • Work closely with the rebuilds team to meet project milestones and timelines

About You :

  • Trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Fitter or Mechanical Fitter (or equivalent)
  • Experience with rigid haul trucks, large mining equipment, or heavy mobile plant is preferred / not essential
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn OEM rebuild processes
  • Safety-focused, reliable, and able to work effectively in a team environment
