The Opportunity
Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia is seeking a Workshop Fitter to join our Perth based rebuilds team on a 7/7 roster, working on a major EH5000 rigid haul truck rebuild project at our Forrestdale workshop.
Reporting to the Rebuilds Coordinator, your key responsibilities will include:
- Strip, inspect, rebuild and reassemble EH5000 rigid haul trucks to OEM standards
- Carry out mechanical fitting work across major systems including:
- Chassis and structural components
- High-horsepower diesel engines
- Final drives, brake and steering systems
- AC drive components and electric wheel motors
- Hydraulic systems and cooling packages
- Conduct detailed inspections during strip-downs to identify wear, damage, and repair requirements
- Complete rebuild tasks safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards
- Follow Hitachi procedures, safety systems, and documentation requirements
- Work closely with the rebuilds team to meet project milestones and timelines
About You :
- Trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Fitter or Mechanical Fitter (or equivalent)
- Experience with rigid haul trucks, large mining equipment, or heavy mobile plant is preferred / not essential
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn OEM rebuild processes
- Safety-focused, reliable, and able to work effectively in a team environment
