The Opportunity
Hitachi is seeking a motivated and safety-focused individual to join our team as a Workshop Fitter based at our Newcastle Branch in Beresfield.
In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of equipment, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, professionally, and within required timeframes.
You will also be responsible for:
- Repairing and maintaining both new and used equipment
- Conducting basic failure analysis and identifying specific modes of failure
- Completing pre-delivery inspections, testing, and commissioning of new equipment
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures
- Completing and submitting all relevant documentation, service reports, and paperwork
- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment in line with Hitachi's 5S standards
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A relevant Mechanical Trade Qualification (Commercial Vehicle trades will also be considered)
- Previous experience assembling, overhauling, repairing, and servicing mechanical and hydraulic components on construction equipment
- High Risk Work Licences (Forklift, Dogging, Working at Heights, etc.) highly regarded, but not essential
- A strong commitment to safety and a sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety principles
- Effective communication skills and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship within an OEM environment
