The Opportunity
Hitachi is seeking a motivated and quality-focused Trade Assistant to join our Rebuilds team at our new state of the art Forrestdale facility. Reporting to the Rebuilds Co-ordinator, you will support the EH500 rebuild operations, working closely with tradespeople to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist tradespeople with the disassembly, rebuild, and assembly of mining equipment
- Prepare tools, parts, and equipment to support rebuild activities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
- Support workflow planning to ensure efficient use of labour and resources
- Follow quality processes and ensure work meets Hitachi standards
- Comply with all WHS requirements and contribute to a strong safety-first culture
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Trade Assistant or similar role in a workshop or mining environment
- A strong commitment to safety and understanding of WHS principles
- Ability to work well in a team and take direction from leading hands and tradespeople
- Good work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Experience with heavy mining equipment (Hitachi exposure advantageous but not essential)
- High-Risk Work licenses (forklift, dogging, working at heights, etc.) and a Heavy Rigid license would be highly regarded
