Hitachi Construction Machinery (Australia) Pty Ltd is a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. 

The Opportunity

Hitachi is actively seeking a quality focused trade qualified individual to join the team in the position of Workshop Leading Hand for our Perth Branch Workshop team. This permanent role will allow you to access OEM training while you build a long-term career in a global company.

In this role you will:

  • Lead a team of Workshop Technicians to meet, deliver and exceed service expectations
  • Drive efficiency within the team to meet tight deadlines whilst ensuring employees comply with all WHS responsibilities and that a safety first culture is a consistent behaviour within the department
  • Liaise with technical support staff and coordinating diagnostic, maintenance and repairs as a valued team member
  • Maintain work schedules to ensure efficient utilization of equipment and resources
  • Be responsible for the day to day activities of workshop personnel and ensure labour is used most effectively
  • Liaise with stakeholders pertaining to machine performance, product, workmanship, and warranty

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Ensure the HCA Safety Culture is embraced, displayed and driven from within - safety takes priority over everything else
  • Previous experience leading a team to achieve and exceed set goals
  • Demonstrated work experience and technical knowledge on construction and mining equipment is essential
  • Hold relevant Australian (or Australian recognized) diesel or mobile plant trade qualifications
  • Have good communication and customer service skills with the ability to build long term relationships
  • Have the ability to navigate complex technical issues to deliver high quality outcomes in repair and maintenance services with minimal to zero rework
  • Excellent technical knowledge of Hitachi mining and construction equipment would be highly advantageous
