Hitachi Construction Machinery (Australia) Pty Ltd is a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. 

The Opportunity

With strong growth in our service department, our Port Hedland branch has an exciting opportunity for a trade qualified Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic / HD Fitter to join our team. The key focus of this role will be to provide breakdown, service and planned maintenance support on a range of Hitachi Construction and Mining equipment.

Working a 2/1 fixed FIFO roster, you will:

  • Perform onsite repairs on a wide range of Hitachi equipment
  • Attend to site breakdowns within Port Hedland and surrounding areas
  • Undertake diagnostic work
  • Liaise with a network of customers within the territory, whilst building strong relationships
  • Work with internal technical support staff to achieve successful maintenance

This permanent role will allow you to access OEM training while you build a long-term career in a global company. To be successful in this role you will:

  • Ensure the HCA Safety Culture is embraced, displayed and driven from within - safety takes priority over everything else
  • Hold relevant Australian (or Australian recognised) mobile plant trade qualifications
  • Have experience, knowledge and understanding of civil and mining equipment
  • Have a strong work ethic and the ability to work autonomously within remote areas
  • Have good communication and customer service skills with the ability to build long term relationships
  • Have great technical knowledge and diagnostic ability (excellent technical knowledge of Hitachi mining equipment would be highly advantageous)

  • Scaled rates – starting rate $72.04/hr, potential to qualify for more based on yearly performance & training completed
  • Superannuation paid on all ordinary hours up to 12 hours per rostered shift
  • Minimum 12hrs paid for all work days whilst working in the Port Hedland on rostered days
  • 1hr of Airport standby time & 2hrs of flight travel time paid to/from the Port Hedland
  • All travel hours on site paid – airport to site, intersite, and site to camp / vice versa
  • Reimbursements paid for transport to and from home to airport, or airport parking

  • 12hrs paid fatigue days whilst in the Port Hedland
