The Opportunity

Hitachi is actively seeking a motivated individual to join the team in the position of Workshop Fitter based in our Newcastle Branch located in Beresfield. This opportunity will see you assemble, maintain and repair and refurb equipment including retail customer works and rental fleet maintenance in a professional, timely manner.

You will also be responsible for:

  • The repair and maintenance of both new and used equipment
  • Conduct basic failure analysis and identify specific modes of failure
  • Preparation and testing pre-delivery inspections of new equipment
  • Ensuring all work carried out is performed in a safe manner
  • Completion and submission of all relevant paperwork and reports
  • Maintain a clean and tidy working environment in line with the company's 5S standards

To be successful in this role:

  • Relevant Mechanical Trade qualification - Commercial Vehicle trades will also be considered.
  • Previous experience with the assembly, overhaul, repair and servicing of mechanical and hydraulic components on construction and/or mining equipment.
  • High Risk Work licences (forklift, dogging, working at heights, etc) - highly regarded
  • A safety focus with a good understanding of Workplace Health and Safety principles
  • Good communication skills and a dedication to providing quality work for an OEM
