The Opportunity
With strong growth in our QLD operations, our Wacol branch has an opportunity for a Worksop based Heavy Equipment Diesel Fitter to join the Hitachi team.
This is a permanent full-time position which will see you focus on all aspects of Heavy Diesel mechanics and mobile plant equipment fitting.
The responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Maintenance and Repair
- Routine Inspections: Conduct regular checks on machinery to identify wear and tear.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures.
- Repair Work: Address breakdowns and failures by diagnosing issues and replacing failed components.
Assembly and Disassembly
- Equipment Assembly: Work on assembling machinery parts and components according to OEM specifications.
- Disassembly: Take apart equipment for repairs, cleaning, or inspections.
Technical Troubleshooting
- Diagnosing Problems: Use tools and diagnostic equipment to identify failures in machinery.
- Repairs: Apply solutions for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems.
Parts Management
- Parts Ordering: Keep track of inventory and order supplies or parts as needed.
- Stock Management: Ensure that tools and equipment are properly stored, maintained, and accessible.
Documentation
- Log Keeping: Maintain records of repairs and maintenance activities performed.
- Reporting: Provide reports on equipment condition, performance, and any safety concerns.
Safety Compliance
- Safety Checks: Ensure that all equipment complies with safety regulations and standards.
- Safety Culture: Follow and promote safety culture within the workshop.
- Team Coordination: Work closely with other fitters.
- Training: Assist in training new workers or apprentices in maintenance tasks and safety practices.
Machinery Testing
- Functional Testing : Conduct tests on repaired equipment to ensure it operates as intended before returning it to service.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Ensure the HCA Safety Culture is embraced, displayed, and driven from within - safety takes priority over everything else
- Hold relevant Australian (or Australian recognised) Mobile Plant, Fitter Machinist or Heavy Diesel trade qualifications looking to learn OEM machinery
- Having experienced within a similar role or in a workshop environment would be highly advantageous
