The Opportunity

Our Toowoomba Branch has an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Heavy Equipment Diesel Fitter to work on both Civil Equipment and Mining Equipment.

This role will see you focus on all aspects of Heavy Diesel mechanics and mobile plant equipment fitting and will best suit someone who has strong focus on diagnostics, maintenance and repairs for our valued customer base.

The responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance and repair: Conduct all repairs and maintenance jobs
  • Repair Work: Address breakdowns and failures by diagnosing issues and replacing failed components
  • Diagnosing Problems: Use tools and diagnostic equipment to identify failures in machinery.
  • Repairs: Apply solutions for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems
  • Routine Inspections - Conduct regular checks on machinery to identify wear and tear.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Trade Qualifications - Minimum Certificate III in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Safety Commitment: Proactive awareness and total assurance of Hitachi’s number one priority
  • Experience & Skillset: Heavy Diesel mechanics and field service fitters with demonstrated work experience and technical knowledge of construction equipment - Hitachi equipment experience highly regarded
  • Analytical thinking: Ability to navigate complex technical issues in repair and maintenance services with minimal to zero rework
  • Autonomous productivity: Initiative to plan work fronts efficiently and effectively, delivering quality outcomes to ensure Total Customer Satisfaction
  • Positive can-do attitude with ability to work alone and unsupervised as required
