Senior Mechanical Engineer – Engineering

Location: Wacol, Brisbane

The Opportunity

Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead technical design projects across our mining truck & excavator fleet.

In this role, you’ll act as a trusted technical expert—working closely with internal teams & stakeholders to develop engineered solutions to complex local engineering requests.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and drive complex technical investigations & design tasks
  • Provide expert guidance in technical engineering tasks & risk assessments, for both your own projects and fellow team members projects
  • Deliver a range of engineered solutions for Mining equipment, including but not limited to: machine local options, service tools, lifting equipment & transport frames, in partnership with Service, Parts, and Sales teams
  • Engage with key stakeholder to support the development & ongoing support of engineered solutions

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in mining, construction, or heavy equipment
  • Strong background in design engineering, with experience in 3D modelling, Structural FEA, mechanical engineering calculations and G&T
  • Expertise in hydraulics systems (preferred)
  • Ideally a Registered engineer or currently in the process of obtaining registration
  • Proven ability to lead technical problem-solving and influence stakeholders
  • Strong communication and commercial awareness
